OEHHA performs major risk assessment and hazard evaluation activities relating to chemical contaminants in drinking water. These activities include developing health advisories, Public Health Goals for chemical substances in drinking water, Notification Levels, and providing toxicological assistance for chemical monitoring activities for the drinking water supply. The program also provides education to the public and other governmental agencies on drinking water contamination and drinking water regulatory standards development.

The Public Health Goal for 1,3-dichloropropene (Telone) was updated in 2006.

The Public Health Goals for N-nitrosodimethylamine and cadmium in drinking water were finalized and made available.

The Public Health Goal for chlordane was updated in 2006.

OEHHA reviewed stormwater monitoring data for the purpose of characterizing used oil pollution in stormwater runoff. Stormwater runoff refers to water transported through stormwater conveyance systems during and after storm events.

A second public comment period announced for the draft Public Health Goals for the following chemicals: cadmium, glyphosate, n-nitrosodimethylamine, and water soluble polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
